The Vineyard School to Represent Richmond at The London Youth Games

The smiles on the faces of our Year 5 and 6 basketballers say it all!

These ten players gave everything at the Borough Basketball Championship on Wednesday 24th May 2017 and their efforts were duly rewarded. This team has been notable throughout the year for their unswerving commitment and drive and their campaign has not been an unbroken series of wins.  Similarly at this tournament, we did not sail through to the final unchallenged. We finished second in our group, which was enough to win a place in the semi-final, where we met Archdeacon Cambridge who had topped their group. It was a tough game, which we managed to steal in the last minute with a winning basket.  In the final, we faced local opponents, Marshgate, who have beaten us to the title in two of the three Richmond East Tournaments this year. But, our determined and skilful team were not daunted; this time victory was ours as we defeated them decisively. We will now take our place among the school teams representing Richmond Borough at the London Youth Games at Crystal Palace in July.

We could not be more proud of this team.  Thanks must also go to our Richmond Knights coaches, who run our weekly clubs, and Y1 dad, Richard, who has coached our teams at the tournaments throughout the year.
