The Richmond Borough Football Festival

On Friday 27th January, in Teddington, at the National Physics Laboratory, the Vineyard School football team competed in a special sporting event: the Football Festival. The group stages took place first with 6 teams in each ‘pool’; any team that achieved 1st, 2nd or 3rd place in their pool of 6 would progress to the knock-out stages of the Cup. However, any team which had finished in 4th, 5th or 6th place would not go through to the Cup knock-out stages but would advance instead to the ‘Plate’ knock-out stages.

Having played our 5 morning group matches, (2 wins, 2 draws and 1 defeat) our team progressed to the knock-out stages of the Cup. In a tight 1-0 match, the Vineyard was knocked out of the Cup.

The Vineyard team thoroughly enjoyed the day and will cherish the memory. The players were: Greg VT (6C), Igor S (6C), Jamie H (6B), Joel F (6B), Nick G (6C), Sam N (6B), Sam VP (5B), Seb L (6C), Tim C (6C).

Many thanks to Mr Rosewell for managing the team on the day, to Mr Taylor for coaching us throughout the year, and to Gail Fogarty, who transported most of us to and from the venue.
