Richmond Knights Basketball Tournament

Categories: School News

On Tuesday 6th March two teams from the Vineyard took part in the Richmond Knights Year 3/4 Basketball tournament at Christ's School. One of the teams, the A team, were the children who played together in the last tournament and won it, so they were returning to defend their title! In their first game against Barnes primary they played incredibly well as a team, showing real progress in their dribbling, shooting and spatial awareness skills. They won this game 19-2! Their second game against St Elizabeth's was tougher and they were defeated 6-9. This put them in second place within their group. In the play offs for 3rd and 4th position, the team continued to show real determination against Lowther and finished with a 26-2 victory!

The Vineyard B team were a group of children who have never competed in a competitive tournament before and so this was very much about them developing their confidence and awareness of game situations. They lost their matches against Lowther, St Mary Magdalens and Barnes 2-10, 0-16 and 0-8 respectively, but they showed some real potential.

It was great to be able to take such a large group of Vineyard children to this event and this is only possible thanks to the great parental support shown.

Well done to the following children in the Vineyard A team: Joe, Cameron, Sam, Max M, Max W, Claire, George, Nico, Katherine, Xavier. And also to the children in the Vineyard B team: Ana, Danny, Holly, Jack, Rosa, Smilla, Zacherie, Jay, Lucas.
