Key Messages

Year 1 and Year 2

  • All star, moon and galaxy books can be changed whenever your child finishes reading their book.

  • As winter season will be coming around it would be appreciated if you could donate a tissue box for your class.

  • Optional values homework

Year 1

This week in year 1 the children have been enjoying reading our new book in English - Quill Soup. They have been using adjectives and conjunctions to write animal facts. In maths, the children have learnt to use the part-whole model to add two amounts together and write the corresponding number sentences. In geography, the children were excited to use a map of the Year 1 learning garden to find letters. They plotted the letters on the map and then discovered the letters made the word - Richmond. In art, children were introduced to new vocabulary - shading and stippling. They used their sketchbooks to practise this new art technique.

Year 2

This week in Year 2 the children have turned into artists! They have been enjoying making Orla Kiely prints with nature. We went on a hunt to pick up many objects around school and designed fantastic and colourful prints.

In science we have been really curious with our minds and have been researching different offsprings of animals and finding fun facts about them on the chromebooks.

In maths, the children have been courageous in starting to add and subtract by making 10.

This week in English we wrote our own alternative ending to tadpole’s promise and have now planned great characters for their own version of `tadpole’s promise.
