Caring Curious Courageous

Enabling all children to learn and grow

Friday 22nd May 2026

Dear Families,

It has been another wonderful term at school, and the children have truly shone.

Year 6 have completed their SATs, and Years 1 and 4 have been preparing for their phonics screening check and multiplication tables check, which they will take next term. We have also enjoyed a number of enriching trips, including visits to Juniper Hall, the British Museum and Hounslow Urban Farm.

And the year is far from over. We are still looking forward to the Year 6 production of The Lion King, our Geography Fieldwork Day, and events linked to the London Literary Festival at Richmond Theatre and the Rose Theatre, along with many other opportunities still to come.

There is so much to celebrate across our Vineyard community, something that was beautifully evident at the recent school picnic. It was a wonderful reminder of what makes our school special: children, families and staff coming together and enjoying being part of something bigger.

I am also looking forward to the meeting on 12th June at 2pm, where parents will be leading a conversation about how we continue to strengthen parent engagement and work together as a community.

As always, my door remains open and I am very happy to meet with any of you. Please do not sit with worries or concerns—do get in touch by email and we can arrange a time to talk.

It looks as though the bank holiday weekend and half term will be blessed with some lovely weather. I hope you all have the chance to rest, enjoy time together, and re-energise for the final half term of the year.

See you all for Summer 2!

Frances

Report from the Governors

1H Summer term 2026

Thank you to all those families who responded to the consultation about joining Bourne Education Trust.  68 families responded, of whom 74% were in favour of The Vineyard school becoming an academy (12% disagreed) and 71% were in favour of the school joining Bourne Education Trust (13% disagreed).  59% were in favour of the change of school dates (15% disagreed). The school and governors monitored the responses during the consultation period and added comments to the FAQ which is still on the school website. This is an extremely important decision for the school and governors continue to monitor and discuss the impact of being an associate member and what full membership of Bourne will look like.

The school's annual family survey will be coming out just after half-term. This is a very important survey for governors and the school and the results are used to inform the School Development Plan.  Please make sure that you tell us your views.

Large Donation
Would Super Saturdays be a particular project you would like to donate towards – contact the School Business Manager sbm@vineyard.richmond.sch.uk
The overall cost to open the school for the six remaining Saturdays in Summer 2 will be £720.

What is it?
Super Saturday started last academic year following a successful Open Schools funding bid.
The aim of the project was to open a safe space for Vineyard families to play.
Vineyard families were welcome to invite their close community (neighbour, cousin) to join in with them on the school grounds.
Super Saturday had two foci – a wheel-based project (cycling, skateboarding, inline skates, scooters) and a Table Tennis project.
A play facilitator was hired to be on site to get equipment out, keep the site safe, and to apply any emergency first aid.

History
The funding from the Opening Schools Project ended mid-way through last academic year. For sustainability, it was always our intention for a fee to be attached to using the grounds.
Due to running out of voluntary contribution funds, the project stopped during this Spring term.

Thank you for completing the form.

Well done to the Green Team for organising the birthday messages and a huge thank you again to the families who organised our recent community picnic in Sir David's honour.
