Caring Curious Courageous

Enabling all children to learn and grow

Friday 8th December 2023

Dear all families,

Watching our youngest children perform in their nativity productions has been the highlight of my week. They confidently stood up on stage, at the right time, to perform their lines from memory. The children all sang beautifully, behaved like angels and looked like they enjoyed seeing themselves and each other showcasing all their hard work.

Next week is Key Stage 2's turn. These will take place at St Matthias Church.

  • 12.12.23 Year 4 and sapphire class - 9.30am
  • 13.12.23 Year 5 and Emerald class - 9.30am
  • 13.12.23 Year 6 and Ruby class - 11am

I popped down to watch our year 3 football team on Tuesday, as they were competing in a borough event. The children were, as you would expect, great ambassadors for the school. They played well and were very supportive of each other.

Being the first day of the eight-day celebration, we would like to wish those who celebrate, a happy Hanukkah.

Ofsted

I am very pleased that our Ofsted report is ready to share with you all. It was a fair and robust process that we all felt that it was a very positive experience. It is frustrating that it is so short but this is the standard length for Ofsted. I look forward to sharing more feedback from the inspectors visit when a holding a family meet where all are welcome to attend (details below). I have written a letter as has Antony Cook (Chair of Governors), and we have also prepared some questions and answers, which we encourage you to look at, after reading the report.

Family meeting – Ofsted feedback

Antony Cook and I will be hosting a family meeting at school on Monday 18th December between 8.45 and 9.30am. Please do come along if you would like to hear more about the feedback or have any questions you would like to ask. Fill out the form if you can attend.

Thank you to our wonderful PTA for organising the Christmas Craft Fair last weekend. It was a lovely community event which the children thoroughly enjoyed.

As always, please do catch me on the gate or email me if you ever have anything you would like to discuss.

Wishing you a wonderful weekend,

Frances

Safeguarding

A few weeks ago, children took part in an assembly on road safety. The children discussed safe places to cross a road and how to walk along a road safely. We also included walking up and down the drive. Please can you remind your children that the drive is a road so they should not play on it.

Thank you for your support with this.

Lunchtime Ordering Survey

Now that the new system has been launched, we would like to gain your views on how regularly you would like to order your meals for your child. Please complete this form by Monday 18th December.

Would you like to work in our wonderful library?

Our valued librarians are leaving at Christmas, so we are looking for a new librarian/s to work with us for 3 hours a day. The hours need to include lunchtime. If you would like more information about this please contact tandl@vineyard.richmond.sch.uk

Lost Property

We still have a staggering amount of lost property (unnamed uniform items/coats/ water bottles/ packed lunch boxes) which is kept outside Y3 classrooms (undercover).

The last day for collection of your lost property is Thursday, 21st December. After that date, all water bottles and packed lunch boxes will be thrown away, clean uniform items will be passed to PTA for sale and the rest taken to a charity shop.

We also would like to ask you to mark all uniform, including coats, with a permanent marker. This will help us to identify the owner and pass any lost property to a child.
