Year 3

We have had a fantastic start to the new half term in Year 3 and have been busy with lots of new learning! We have started reading a new book in English called “The First Drawing” and practising our first person writing in preparation for writing diaries next week! In maths, we have been putting into practise our addition and subtraction skills using the column method. The children have started investigating our new science topic, light, by learning about different light sources. Ask them if they can find some light sources around your home! In DT, the children investigated how telephones work and made their own using paper cups and string. They had lots of fun having their own conversations using their telephones.

Year 4

In year 4 this week we have been inspired by our reading-for-pleasure book 'Fintan The World's Worst Explorer'. As Fintan explores the jungle we have been working on our poetic devices and using these to describe the jungle.

In maths, we continued learning new strategies to help us solve subtraction problems. Ask your child if they can use a number line to subtract? Or column method?

In history, we will be looking at Roman Britain, we have begun this by comparing life of the Romans to those living in Britain at the time.

In Science, we are excited to begin learning our new topic of Earth and Space. This week we have been looking at the sun, the earth, and the moon, working with our classmates to create informative posters.
