Caring Curious Courageous

Enabling all children to learn and grow

Friday 20th May 2024

Dear families,

And in a blink of an eye we are at the end of the first half of the summer term!

I can't go any further without thanking the PTA for their hard work in organising the family fun football event last Saturday. Comments on the gate on Monday morning included, “That was the best event we've attended at school!” “There was a fantastic atmosphere!” and “The children thoroughly enjoyed it; the teachers looked like they did too!”

Music has been the highlight of my week. Firstly, in the form of the singing assembly for Reception and KS1 on Monday. The children were singing together and learning musical terms such as tempo, forte and pitch. On Wednesday, I went to the singing festival at The Rose Theatre. This is a borough wide event for KS2. It was truly magnificent, and I felt very proud of our children who took part in it. Thank you to Mrs Rossington and Mr Oliver for all the work it took to ensure the children were ready.

Thinking ahead to Summer 2, and the festival of sports events:

Tuesday 9th July - 1.45 - 3pm - years 1&2

Wednesday 10th July - 9.30-11am - years 5&6

Wednesday 10th July - 1.45-3pm - years 3&4

Thursday 11th July - 1.45-3pm - reception

Families are welcome to join these events, so please put the dates in your diaries.

I hope you all have a lovely week away from the routine and have plenty of time to enjoy family time together. Looking forward to seeing all the children back for the final part of the academic year.

Maths Family Workshop

Thank you to all who were able to attend this week's maths workshop for families on reasoning. It was wonderful to have your presence and engagement, demonstrating a wonderful commitment to The Vineyard children's education. For those who were unable to join us, please find the slides attached. From the slides, you will be able to download the Family Maths Toolkit scrapbooks for home use.

School Council Project

In this week's assembly, a group of School Council members spoke to the children about our upcoming fundraising event, in which we will be supporting The Purple Elephant Project. This is a local mental health charity that offers support for children and their families affected by attachment, developmental trauma or life experiences in Richmond and Hounslow. More information about the fundraising event to follow in the newsletter after half term.

Leaving the School Site at the End of the Day

We kindly request that you leave the school site with your children by 3.20pm.

If your child has an after-school club, you will need to leave the school site by 3.20pm and come back to collect them. We are very lucky to have Terrace Gardens and lovely coffee shops only a stone's throw away for you to wait if needed.

Reception Path

After half term, at drop off and pick up, we will be opening up the old pathway and gate that runs from the main school office and along the Reception classrooms towards the Reception learning garden. This pathway will be open to Reception families for dropping off and picking up their children. All families can also exit via this pathway. Please note that this Reception gate will be open from 8.35-8.45 and 3.05-3.25 each day.
