Caring Curious Courageous

Enabling all children to learn and grow

Friday 28th June 2024

Dear families,

The children have coped with the high temperatures so well this week. They've kept calm and carried on in true Vineyard style.

I feel lucky that I was able to join year 6 in Osmington Bay where, in contrast to the year 5 trip, the weather has been amazing - much more about sun cream, than raincoats. They have had a wonderful week and have taken every opportunity given to them. Thank you to all the staff who organised and went on the trip. Everyone is now exhausted - a true sign of a great time.

Year 2 impressed the staff at Hampton Court Palace on Tuesday with their questions about Henry VIII. One said, "Very advanced knowledge - hats off to your teachers!"  A proud moment indeed that the children are learning and retaining knowledge from the curriculum in such great detail.

Every school has a school improvement partner who supports the school in their development by asking questions, but also helping to answer them too. I am delighted to say that our SIP was extremely impressed with the progress in teaching and learning we have made over the year. I will be able to share with you the key areas of school development we will be working on next, in September.

Lastly, a huge congratulations to Rachel Chambers, who is expecting her second baby in October.

I hope you all have a lovely weekend,

Frances Bracegirdle

STEM Week Free STEM Resources With Chris Woods - 21K School Ghana

We are looking forward to STEM Week next week! This year, we will carry out investigations during lessons, research mathematicians and take part in a science show.

Scientists and mathematicians at home can prepare an investigation or experiment to bring into school on Friday 5th July for the science fair.

To encourage you all to think like scientists and mathematicians during the week, we are going to hold a 'STEM Selfie' challenge. We would like you to take a photo of how you use science/maths at home. Do you use science when you wake up? Do you use maths when you get on the bus? If you notice something, take a selfie and write a sentence to explain the scientific or mathematical link.

Please email your photos with your explanation during STEM week to your teacher through their year group email.

We look forward to having a week full of STEM fun!

Families can also buy their child/ren an ice pop or lolly for them to enjoy after school, if they wish.

The Vineyard Walk Richmond Park - Park in Richmond, Richmond - VisitRichmond

We are pleased to announce that The Royal Parks have approved our application to complete a whole school walk on Friday 12 July! This will end a fantastic week of sport festivals and physical activity.

In the past, the school has completed a walk around Richmond Park. Each year group has a varying distance to walk, meeting together as a whole school to have a picnic lunch.

The Royal Park has given us a 67% price reduction. However, we do need to cover the cost of £518.00. A donation link will be set up on each child’s School Money account to help us fund this event.

Monies raised above this amount will go towards equipment that helps us go on trips, e.g. high vis jackets.

We have agreed with the Royal Park that adult numbers will be capped at the ratio needed for safety. As such, we will need some parent helpers to walk with each class. Please indicate your interest in volunteering here.

Specific information will follow in due course. For now, please add to your calendar that on this day, Friday 12 July, your child will need to be wearing their PE kit, athletic trainers, appropriate clothing for the weather and have a water bottle.
