Dear Families,
I was very fortunate to spend two days in Liddington with Year 6 on their PGL residential this week. The children were a credit to the school and represented Vineyard brilliantly. It was wonderful to see so many children being courageous and stepping outside their comfort zones to try activities that they initially found daunting, such as climbing and the trapeze. They supported one another, persevered when things felt difficult and, by the end of the trip, many had achieved things they did not think they could do. I was incredibly proud of them all.
A huge thank you to the staff who gave up their evenings and time away from their own families to make the trip possible. Residential visits are a huge commitment, and the children benefited enormously from their care, encouragement and enthusiasm.
Meanwhile, back at school, our Year 1 children have been completing their Phonics Screening Check, while last week our Year 4 pupils took part in the Multiplication Tables Check. Thank you to all the staff for their hard work in preparing the children so well, and to families for the support you provide at home. Your partnership makes a real difference.
Although we are approaching the end of the school year, there is still plenty to come, including our Festival of Sport and a number of exciting trips and events. The summer term is always one of the busiest and most enjoyable times of the year, and we are looking forward to making the most of the weeks ahead.
I hope you have a lovely weekend.
Best wishes,
Frances Bracegirdle
