Gems

Gems has had a very busy and exciting first week back at school.  They all participated beautifully for their class photos on Monday and happily settled back into the school routines. On Wednesday, all gems children accompanied their corresponding year groups for the geography Fieldwork Day exploring their local environment.  In the afternoon, we talked about the geographical features they observed and drew a map of the areas they investigated.

      

  

On Friday, Albie enjoyed a wonderful day at Kew Gardens with his Year 1 classmates.

This week, we excitedly harvested our first vegetables from our Gems garden. Look at how big our radishes are!

  

    

In Gems’ English lessons, we are reading The Smile Shop (for 3 weeks).  Here is a video link for you to share the book at home with your child:

Here are some of the Attention Bucket activities for stage 4: 

  • Split pin Dinosaurs 

  • Parachute games focusing on following instructions

  • Building dinosaurs using cut out shapes.

Useful resources we use in Gems: 

 

Messages: 

Please write in your child's reading record every time you hear your child read at home. We recommend reading daily with your child. 

When reading with your child, you can: 

  • enjoy reading other stories to them

  • stop half way through and predict the ending

  • talk about the story

  • make links to other books

  • retell the story

  • answer a few questions about the story

Reception children - Thursday

Year 1 – Wednesday and Thursday 

Year 2 – Tuesday and Wednesday

  • Reception Disco on 19th June

  • 19th June: Living things workshop in classroom

  • 25th June: Festival of sport Reception (9:15 - 10.30)

  • 25th June: Festival of sport Yr 1 and 2 (1.45 - 3)

  • 2nd July: Y2 trip to Hampton Court Royal Historic Palace

  • 17th July: Last day - school closes at 1.30
