Pupil Premium Grant

The pupil premium (PP) is additional funding given directly to publicly funded schools in England to raise the attainment of disadvantaged pupils and diminish the gap, where there is one, between these children and their peers. It is also designed to provide additional support for children of service families.

Pupils are eligible for the pupil premium if they are registered for free school meals; the funding remains with them for six years from the first period of entitlement ('Ever 6 FSM').

Pupils who have been or are in care are also entitled to funding. Children will also be eligible who were adopted from care on or after 30 December 2005 or who left care under:

  • a Special Guardianship Order on or after 30 December 2005
  • a Residence Order on or after 14 October 1991
