Friends of Vineyard (FoV)
We would like to welcome you to the Friends of The Vineyard School fund (FoV fund), a registered charity set up over 20 years ago to provide a tax-efficient mechanism for donating to the school (Charity Commission number 1077631).
The FoV fund aims to support those extra features that help to raise the quality of our education and our pupils’ wellbeing and enjoyment of school in line with the school's strategic aims. These features all set The Vineyard apart from other schools.
As you will have seen in the press, school funding has declined in real terms over the past decade and, like most state schools, The Vineyard faces a challenging time financially. The Vineyard has always relied on additional funding streams to support its finances, particularly PTA fundraising and parental donations.
We need your support. We ask every Vineyard family to contribute towards the fund and every contribution, no matter how large or how small, makes a significant difference to our pupils’ experience at school. We also recognise that families contribute to the school in many ways other than just financially and these are all much appreciated.
Each year, the FoV fund contributes an additional £10,000 to £55,000 to the school budget. In recent years, donations made to the Friends have funded, among other things, the reconfiguration of the classrooms to provide a dedicated reception area, a new school computer server and improved reading schemes. This year we have plans to upgrade the reception outdoor spaces and provide dedicated iPads for music and IT lessons. The fund also helps the school finance all the usual classroom resources such as stationery, PE equipment, art and DT resources and library books, leaving more of the government school funding to pay for our teachers and support staff.
Next year we would like the FoV fund to start to support our plans to develop part of the field, a project which was paused due to covid. These plans will give the school a multi-use games area (MUGA) and a running track as well as leaving green space for free play. The MUGA will enable our pupils to use the field area all year round and allow us to broaden our sports offering further. This development will cost around £125,000 and will not be possible without parental donations.
All contributions to the FoV fund are entirely voluntary and confidential. We thank you so much for all your support - The Vineyard would not be the school it is without your help.
