Caring Curious Courageous

Enabling all children to learn and grow

Friday 31st March 2023

Dear all families,

The highlight of the week was the fabulous music concert that some of our young musicians took part in. For some, this was their very first concert which was very exciting. All the children worked so hard in preparing, and I felt very proud of them and their commitment. Learning an instrument is something which takes time, effort, determination and passion. Our hope at The Vineyard is to instil a lifelong passion for music and to support children in developing their musicality and continuation of music lessons. On Tuesday, we celebrated all the wonderful music-making happening at The Vineyard. Thank you to all who helped put this event together especially Ms Bracegirdle, the PTA and Richmond Music Trust.

We have noticed that the uniform of some children is starting to slip. A reminder that children should be wearing school shoes, not trainers or boots and simple hair accessories in the school colours (blue and red).

Unbelievably, it is the end of the second term and there is only one to go! The children have worked hard and learnt lots. It is time for a very well deserved break for all. I hope you all have a lovely holiday and enjoy some family time together. It is a time for playing games, being outside (let's hope the weather plays ball), seeing friends and family and recharging our batteries so we are all ready to come back for the summer term.

Wishing you a lovely holiday,

Frances Bracegirdle

Attendance

Attendance has been quite a bit lower this week. A reminder that holidays in term time are not authorised and we are firming up our approach on this and seeking advice from the Educational Welfare Officer. Please note, the end of Summer 2 term is Thursday 20th July at 1:45pm.

Well done to Year 2 as their attendance was over 95%!

Adopt a Plot

This year has seen the launch of the Adopt a Plot initiative, which has resulted in fabulous gardening by some of our families. Mrs Collier has done a wonderful  job in coordinating this project- thank you.  If you would like to take a plot in April, please let us know. The gardening so far has produced some wonderful results! We have all been enjoying the wonderful tulips in the Vineyard V, as well as the lovely daffodils that have grown from Mrs Collier’s Plant a Bulb afternoon.  Thank you to everyone who has helped this spring be beautiful and don’t forget that a plot of garden could be yours.

All Reception parents are invited to a short presentation on 20th April at 9.15am on Chatterbox. Please follow the link to find out more information

Safeguarding

Peter Cowley (AfC e-safety advisor) came in to speak to Year 6 children about how to stay safe online- slides can be found here. We hope that all children have taken something away from this talk and are more aware about how to keep safe online.

Our safeguarding link governor came in to speak to the children and staff to ask about our safeguarding procedures. The children were able to explain how we keep them safe in school and who they can talk to if they have a worry. This was great to hear!

Wear a Hat Day

Thank you for donating to the Brain Tumour Research Charity for Wear a Hat Day today. We have raised £845.61 so far! If you would still like to donate, please do this on Pay 360. This money is going towards a great cause and we really appreciate families donations to this.

Thank you to the PTA

A big thank you to the PTA for all of their support this term. They have supported the Creative Arts' Week, organised a fantastic concert this week, provided staff with Cook dinners after parents evening and much more. We really are so grateful for their support.

Thank you

We have been overwhelmed by the support of some of our families for sponsoring our trips. This term their extra contributions came to a total of £2,610.30. Without these, we would have had to cancel some of our trips. Your kindness and generosity is really appreciated!

A message from the school council

The date of the exhibition will be Thursday 27th April in the library after school. So get creating and fundraising! We can’t wait to see your amazing helicopters!
