Read on to find out what we have been up to in Reception this week.
What an exciting and busy year we’ve had in Reception! We’ve loved every minute of our learning journey and are so proud of all the children’s achievements.
We started the year getting to know our new friends and classroom routines. Our learning has taken us on some amazing adventures – we visited the farm and met real animals, and we had a magical trip to the theatre to see Father Christmas! A real highlight was our dinosaur workshop, where we explored fossils and roared like real dinosaurs!
Throughout the year, we’ve explored exciting topics such as minibeasts, superheroes, dinosaurs, festivals, and even Trinidad and Tobago. We especially enjoyed celebrating our Trinidad and Tobago topic with a fantastic steel pan workshop and our colourful carnival parade! We’ve also had the joy of watching caterpillars grow into butterflies, which helped us learn all about life cycles.
In phonics, we’ve worked hard to learn our “special friends” and are now using them to read and write confidently. In maths, we’ve been learning number bonds to 10 and using them to solve problems.
We’ve also had lots of fun in PE, practising our throwing, catching, running and jumping skills, and have loved our forest school sessions – exploring nature and working as a team.
A big thank you to all our families for your continued support this year. It’s been a joy to watch the children grow, learn and thrive. Have a wonderful summer!
