It has been a wonderful start to the term in Music, with every year group embracing exciting new projects and developing their creativity.
• Year 6 have begun their English National Opera project Finish This. They are about to choose their colour world, which will inspire their own original compositions.
• Year 5 are busy writing and arranging their very own sea shanties, bringing rhythm, teamwork, and storytelling together.
• Year 4 are exploring gospel music and are already singing a fantastic version of This Little Light of Mine.
• Year 3 are learning about pitch and how to sing and play I’ve Been to Harlem.
• Year 2 are having fun exploring and creating musical echoes and singing Tony Chestnut with some very impressive actions.

Across Gems, Key Stage 1 and 2, every child also takes part in our weekly Big Sings in the hall, filling the school with joyful music and song.

Here are some fantastic musical superstars from this week in year 4
Jeanne (Onyx) – You always follow our musical expectations and set a fantastic example for the rest of the group. I really enjoyed your singing of This Little Light of Mine, which was full of joy and expression. Keep up the great work!
Defne (Zircon) – A big well done for always following our musical expectations. You are a joy to have in the music room. Keep up the great work!
Varvara (Carnelian) – I was very impressed with your singing and your contribution to our listening exercise today. You offered excellent points about what the musicians were doing during their performance. Well done!
