Gems science:  We have continued to explore Autumn using our senses and making different Autumn inspired crafts.  This week we explored familiar animals and had fun identifying them by their sounds.

Reception phonics: This week they have been learning 4 new sounds  and learning how to use the first 12 sounds to read CVC words - e.g. at, sad, pig and got.

               

Red words:  Children in Year 1 and 2, please learn to read and spell these red words:

        

Year 1 English: This week we explored what a postcard looks like, then we pretended to be Beegu and wrote a letter to mum and dad about our adventures on earth. Building on our sentence writing skills to include both adjectives and conjunctions ‘because’ to stretch our sentences and make them more interesting.

Year 2 English: Taking inspiration from the Traction Man book series, they have written a diary about their character’s antics. Our focus has been on writing consistently in the past tense and to refer to emotions. 

Year 2 science: Everyone enjoyed being outside in the Forest School area for science. We looked for minibeasts in their microhabitats. Some spectacular science knowledge was shared.

Year 1 Maths: we have been using our crocodile images to help us remember the symbols greater than, less than and equal to.

                 

          

Gems maths: We have been sorting objects by number or colour, thinking what is the same? Or what is different?

The reading record should be signed by an adult five times each week.
