EYFS News

Read on to find out what we have been up to in Reception this week.

This week we have had a lovely week learning about how we can keep our teeth healthy; we have learnt that we need to brush our teeth twice a day, eat fruit and vegetables, drink milk and water and visit the dentist. The children were then able to select from a range of different vegetables to make their own vegetable salad. They were very excited to cut and chop their chosen ingredients independently. We hope that your children enjoyed eating their wonderful salads at home with you! In the Learning Garden, the children were fully engrossed in helping us to weed and sort the flower beds. Thank you to a very kind parent in Reception who kindly donated some beautiful pansies. The children planted these and now have the responsibility of watering them daily. If any other families are able to donate flowers to make our Learning Garden beautiful this Spring and Summer please give these to your class teacher. In our creation station, the children have been using 3D shapes to make shape pictures inspired by the story ‘Perfect Picture’. In maths, we have been investigating and exploring odds and evens using Numicon and continuing to consolidate our knowledge and understanding of doubles. In phonics this week we have been reviewing previously learnt sounds oo, ee, igh, ow.
