Music update - March

Music continues to bloom at The Vineyard, and this month we celebrate with a whole school Music Day on 25 March. Read on for details of how you can get involved.

Adult instrumental lessons

Ever wanted to learn guitar, piano, violin or singing? Our brilliant instrumental tutors are now taking on adult learners during school hours. Why not try something new this spring? Email music@vineyard.richmond.sch.uk for more details.

Music Day - Tuesday 25 March

To celebrate all of the fantastic music making at The Vineyard, our inaugural Music Day takes place on Tuesday 25 March.

Children will take part in workshops led by professional musicians and educators during the school day. Come and enjoy their performance at 2.45pm on the upper playground!

Are there any opportunities for musical children to get involved?

We invite children to take part in our sponsored Music Marathon from 8.00am. We are aiming to make music for 12 hours straight! Children can sign up for a timed slot, on the sheet on the library door. Parents are welcome to participate too!

Sponsor us here and share the link to family and friends!

Children are also invited to perform a solo or ensemble piece in our evening concert. This is a great performance opportunity for anyone working towards a grade exam. Sign up here

All money raised from Music Day will go towards making soundproofing improvements to the Music Hub, so that we can apply to become an ABRSM exam centre.

Year 5

Our Year 5 musicians tested their knowledge of key musical terms. Using their whiteboards, they wrote the terms and identified their correct meanings from the options on the class board. They were then challenged to use these terms during their Djembe rehearsal, where they composed their own signal part in small groups.

Year 6

Our Year 6 musicians are making exciting progress with their English National Opera Finish This… project. This week, they created their own musical ideas based on an existing graphic score. They had a great time experimenting with their voices and instruments, such as cellos and violins, to produce interesting sounds. Next week, they will begin developing their own original musical ideas!

Band of the week shoutouts.
