Read on to find out what we have been up to in Years 5 & 6 this week.
Year 5
It’s hard to believe we’ve reached the end of Year 5 — what a journey it’s been! As we look back on the past months, we’re filled with pride, laughter, and a real sense of how special this year group truly is.
Our trip to Hooke Court was unforgettable. From braving new challenges to late-night chats in bell tents, it was such a joy to watch the children grow in independence, confidence, and friendship. The memories made there will stay with us all for a long time.
We also had the privilege of visiting the Poppy Factory, where the children showed such maturity and empathy as they learned about service, sacrifice and remembrance. They asked thoughtful questions and really took the experience to heart.
And who could forget the curry cooking – possibly the hottest afternoon of the year! Yet despite the sweltering conditions, the children rose to the occasion with brilliant teamwork, creativity, and just a bit of perspiration!
This week, we ended the year with a bang as we transformed into Viking warriors. The children proudly brandished their homemade shields and formed an impressive shield wall as we re-enacted the Battle of Edington. The energy, enthusiasm, and imagination they brought to the task was a joy to behold.
More than anything though, it’s been the daily moments — the kindness, the laughter, the curiosity — that have made this cohort so special. We have loved getting to know them and will miss them dearly.
They are more than ready for Year 6 and we know they have so much to look forward to. They're an incredible group of young people.
Thank you for all your support this year. We wish you a relaxing, sunshine-filled summer.
Warmest wishes,
The Year 5 Team

Year 6
Wow - how have we got to the end of our time together at The Vineyard?
Firstly, a huge thank you to all our families for your amazing support. Whether it's volunteering on trips, helping with gluing and sawing when making fairground rides, flipping burgers, speaking at our careers fair or supporting with homework, just to name but a few things - your help has truly made a difference.
We want to take a moment to reflect on the amazing journey your children have had during their time in Year 6. It's been a year full of growth, achievements and memories that will last a lifetime.
September feels like a long time ago when we welcomed apprehensive children in, who were keen to learn about algebra, enterprise and much more. In English, we created our own imaginary creatures to write about, explored the world of the Jabberwocky and went on an adventure to a Japanese island in Kensuke’s Kingdom. We’ve learnt about the Battle of Britain, Holi festival, Maya beliefs, Brazil and so much more. We really have jammed so much in making it a special final year to remember.
As a teaching team, we cannot overstate how proud we are of their outstanding SATs results. Their hard work, determination and resilience paid off in incredible ways and we hope they are all as proud of themselves as we are. These results are a true reflection of their dedication and effort.
But of course, it’s not all about academics! The final two weeks have also been packed with exciting events, including their much-anticipated Leavers Party. It really was a perfect way to celebrate their time together before they move on to new adventures. Thank you to all parents for putting together such a fantastic event - the school grounds looked amazing.
And let’s not forget the grand finale: the Year 6 production of Matilda! Each and every child rehearsed tirelessly and it was a true pleasure to watch them on stage as a cohort. The songs were just phenomenal - ‘The best ever,’ said Mrs Henn!
We wish you all a wonderful summer break - we hope to see the children in their new uniforms and hear about their starts at secondary school early on in the autumn term.
