A warm welcome back to all our Gems families. We hope you had a wonderful summer break and that the children feel rested and ready for an exciting year ahead. 

We’ve had a wonderful first week settling in, getting to know our new teachers, classrooms and routines. I am amazed at how well they have all done and how quickly they have settled back at school after a long holiday. The children have already shown great enthusiasm and curiosity, and we are looking forward to an exciting year ahead.

A very special welcome to our new Reception children who have been brilliant, starting to learn our routines and making new friends with both the children and adults.  We hope their journey through The Vineyard is as rewarding and fun as last year’s cohort found it to be. They have certainly started in a happy, confident manner and we are delighted to have them with us.

They were so confident on the playground today; it is not easy to walk out onto a big playground with so many children running around.

Both Y1 and Y2 classes are working on full timetables, with a mixture of Gems and the mainstream school, and we will be using next week to start visiting Reception for short periods of time during our Reception children’s free learning sessions.

Messages: 

• Please ensure your child brings their reading folders in with their reading record and books on Mondays. 
• The reading record should be signed by an adult five times each week.

• Thursday 25th September at 9am - Family workshop discussing the new Snack Policy in big hall
• Tuesday 15th October  - Open Classrooms 8:45-9:10
• Tuesday 15th October - Behaviour For Learning Workshop 09:15-09:45
• Thursday 17th October - PTA BINGO night
• Individual Photo day - either 6th or 7th October
• Phonics Workshop for Year 1 and 2 - 22.10.24 at 9.30 - 10.15 will be taking place on Zoom. Please attend as there will be relevant information regarding Phonics and the statutory Phonics Screening Check.
