Instrumental lessons
A reminder that if your child is enrolled in music lessons via school, their lessons will automatically continue after the half term break (and again after summer holidays, ongoing until you cancel). Please make your payment for Summer 2 before Monday 1 June.
Some spaces will soon be coming up for lessons in singing, recorder, guitar, and percussion via Richmond Music Trust. Please visit their website if you are interested.
For lessons in piano, flute, drumkit, and Musical Theatre, please email music@vineyard.richmond.sch.uk. Subsidised places are available for flute lessons.
Richmond Music Trust Singing Festival
Both our KS1 and KS2 choirs took to the stage to wow the audience at Rose Theatre Kingston on Tuesday. The choirs sang A Spoonful of Sugar and Do-Re-Mi from The Sound of Music alongside our singing partner schools, Old Vicarage School and Deer Park School.
Our children also enjoyed performing the massed singing pieces in three-part harmony, which sounded fantastic. Even the adults couldn’t resist jumping up and down and singing Wake Me Up by Avicii at the end!

Year 3
Our Year 3 musicians are learning about minimalist music this term. Alongside some fantastic listening to Drumming by Steve Reich and Musica Ricercata by György Ligeti, they have been working as composers to create their own pieces.
In true minimalist style, they only have three notes and four rhythms to create their compositions. Today they learnt what an ostinato is and applied that into their creativity.

Music Shout Outs This Week
Year 5
Chris (Moonstone) – Great job today working with real focus on your djembe playing. Your strokes on the drum are improving each week, and you put a lot of effort into singing and playing Tue Tue. Keep up the fantastic musical work!
Sofia (Starlite) – Despite only having a few sessions on the djembe, you are already making fantastic progress as a drummer. Your strokes are accurate and clear, and you are singing and playing Tue Tue with real confidence. Keep up the brilliant work!
