Read on to find out what has been happening in Gems this week.

We are very excited to welcome the Gems children back and see all their lovely smiling faces. We have been super proud of them for showing great enthusiasm and resilience settling back into the class routines. The children have all eagerly participated in a variety of activities in both Gems and their corresponding mainstream classes. We would like to welcome a new member of Gems who has started in Indigo class with the other Year 3 children.

                  

  

  

In Gems’ English lessons, we are reading Flotsam (for 2 weeks).

This is a picture book, it has no words. We are focussing on the beach scenes.

 

Here are some of the Attention Bucket activities for stage 4: 

  • Split pin dinosaurs 

  • Parachute games focusing on following instructions

  • Building dinosaurs using cut out shapes.

Useful resources we use in Gems: 

 

Messages: 

Please write in your child's reading record every time you hear your child read at home. We recommend reading a minimum of five days a week with your child. Please record a simple message in your child’s reading record once you have read with them. Reading folders need to be brought in on Monday and will be sent back home on Tuesday.

 When reading with your child, you can: 

  • enjoy reading other stories to them

  • stop half way through and predict the ending

  • talk about the story

  • make links to other books

  • retell the story

  • answer a few questions about the story

  • Year 1 Sunstone - PE on a Wednesday and Friday
  • Year 1 Diamond - PE on a Wednesday and Friday

 

  • Yr 2 Turquoise - PE on a Monday and Wednesday
  • Yr 2 Pearl - PE on a Monday and Wednesday

 

  • Yr 3 Ruby - PE on a Tuesday and Thursday
  • Yr 3 Sapphire - PE on a Tuesday and Thursday


 

Dates:   

  • 23rd & 24th September Individual photo/siblings all day 

  • 8th October SEND coffee morning

  • 13th & 15th October Family/teacher meetings
