Design and Technology (D&T)
Design & Technology (DT) at The Vineyard nurtures our children as curious thinkers, courageous problem-solvers and caring designers, equipping them to understand and shape the world around them.
Through our carefully structured curriculum, a Vineyard designer learns to:
- ask thoughtful questions and explore how everyday products are made, showing a curious mindset and a desire to improve existing ideas
- design imaginative, purposeful and functional products for real users, always considering the needs of others with a caring approach
- develop confidence using a wide range of tools, materials and techniques, showing courage as they take creative risks and learn from mistakes
- evaluate and refine their ideas and finished products, thinking critically about how well they work and how they could be improved
- apply key technical knowledge in areas such as structures, mechanisms, textiles, food and digital control
Our D&T curriculum runs from Early Years to Year 6 and builds across six key areas: Cooking & Nutrition, Structures, Mechanisms / Mechanical Systems, Textiles, Electrical Systems (KS2) and Digital / Control (KS2).
D& T at The Vineyard is hands-on, reflective and rooted in real-life problem-solving. It empowers children to be inventive, resilient and thoughtful, shaping the world not only with skill, but with curiosity, courage, and care.
