Year 4 

Year 4 have made some big jumps with their maths learning this week. As a part of our new learning of decimals, we have been beginning to recognise hundredths, using a range of representations. The focus in English has been poetry. We have been analysing a poem from 1871! Lewis Carroll’s Jabberwocky has given us the foundations for writing our own narrative poems, containing rhymes, repetition and portmanteaus. Did you know Pokemon is a portmanteau of ‘pocket’ and ‘monster’?  In history, we have been discussing the legacy of Anglo-Saxons based on artefacts left behind in burials. Why do you think the Anglo-Saxons are so famous?
